Athletics in the stadium
This weekend.

I’ve been offered a couple of half decent seats for Sunday at £15 a pop. Might go. Will be nice to see the track again before it gets carpeted over.

Anyone else going?

Olympics is boring too. People at work were falling over themselves to get a ticket to watch Ghana play some other forgettable team just because it's the olympics and they want to say they went to it. It's still a shit game. Just as watching to two asians play table tennis or some eastern European woman throwing a javelin about. Dull as shit yet people falling for the marketing to pay over the odds for sports they would never normally see.

Fine ... you are probably near a load off kids I know from Twitter who are at my kids school ... given free tickets ..... let’s get past the Commonwealth Games and see what makes financial sense

All true but until we buy it I’m sitting above the finish line enjoying the afternoon. Mrs oi is sipping on a pint of gin & tonic. All is well! The other people are a bit annoying though, need to get out more.

Re: Athletics in the stadium
I was at the stadium watching athletics in both Olympics and Paralympics which had a certain appeal ... evening meet is best but this event is so low key it is over by 4pm . Do t get me wrong if it could truly be a world class multi purpose stadium (at the flick of a switch!) then ok ... but this is just playing to the legacy argument and loss making

Talking of celebrity types Martin Allen was there yesterday.

Highlights were Laura Muir, the mens 100 and Goldie sayers getting presented with a bronze from Beijing 2008 after one of the medalists got booted out.

I'd say it was half full yesterday but security didn't scan our tickets at the search points and the doors were wide open after that so frankly you could have rocked up and got in for nothing.

Couldn't get into the club shop though after youd gone over the bridges which was annoying.

One sport is politically correct and the other is nasty ol' West Ham

Re: Athletics in the stadium
Don’t real enjoy any athletics but clearly many fans prefer the ‘celebrity ‘ type . Happy for them to have 2 short days a year but is it worth the cost ? We as West Ham fans get grief for the deal we have with LS but nobody questions British Athletics

How about people enjoying themselves watching sport on a Sunday afternoon?

I prefer it when there are empty seats, it makes a nice relaxed atmosphere and means I can sit where I like. Do you only enjoy watching celebrity athletes?

Re: Athletics in the stadium
Just replied to a Twitter posting by LS and Muller Games saying what a success it was asking if tickets still available ... and what a surprise they reply back with a link with loads on morning on event ... a joke of an event trying to fulfil the ‘legacy’ bit of 2012 but no real stars come now, no USA and shorter event with lots of empty seats ... how is this justified ?

I got it wrong, they’re £10. Bound to be able to sit where you like. Quite looking forward to it.
